James Joseph O’Kane of Eastside Special Care Home Miramichi, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday September 14, 2022, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, Miramichi NB at the age of 85. Jim, or Jimmy as he was affectionately called by family, was born in Chatham NB on July 15,1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Nellie) O’Kane.
Jim is survived by his sister Patsy Cassidy (Dorisman Savard) and his brother William (Bill) O’Kane (Carol Miki), and his nieces and nephews, Cathy, Michael, Timmy, Tommy, Kelly, Rob, Rick, Sean, Chris, Joel, Paula, Paul, Greg, Gary, Scott, Rodney, and Shane as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Joseph, and David.
At Jim’s request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at St. Michaels Basilica on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saint John Regional Hospital and Miramichi Regional Hospital for the care and support provided to Jim during his hospital stays.
In Jim’s memory, donations may be made to the Miramichi food bank or a charity of one’s choice.
