Florence Appleby Traer 1919-2022 Florence Appleby Traer of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 3, 2022, at the age of 102. Born on South Nelson Road, NB, on December 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Parker) Appleby. Florence is survived by her daughter in-law, Willa Traer of Miramichi; son in-law, Louis Walsh of Miramichi; sister, Evelyn Balfour of Ajax, Ontario; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Traer of Miramichi, NB; her only daughter, Jo-Edna Walsh of Miramichi, NB; sons, Ronnie Traer of Dartmouth, NS, Keith Traer of Fredericton, NB, and Daryl Traer of Miramichi, NB; sister, Jessie Miller of Dartmouth, NS; brother John Appleby of Calgary, AB; sister in-law, Helen Jean Taylor of Calgary, AB; and daughter in-laws Roberta Traer of Dartmouth, NS and Joanne Traer of Miramichi, NB. Florence was a long-time employee of the Miramichi Agricultural Exhibition Association where she worked as secretary-treasurer for many years. Following her retirement, she was appointed Honorary Life President of the association. She was also an active member of the community and served as secretary and treasurer of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Zone V, and secretary of New Brunswick Fairs and Exhibition Association; was a member of St Mary’s Anglican Church, Nelson Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens Club, and a Lifetime member of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens Federation. A graveside service will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery Friday May 26,2023 at 3:00pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Mount Saint Joseph Foundation, St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
