Myrtle Pearl (Knowles) Murdock formerly of Loggieville, NB passed away on January 23, 2023, at the age of 102 surrounded by family. Myrtle was a resident of Bridgeview Hall Nursing Home in Miramichi, NB. Born in Chatham on August 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacFarlane) Knowles.

Myrtle married the late Alvin Murdock of Loggieville in 1937 and lovingly raised seven children. She was a homemaker and enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by loved ones. Her door was always open to friends, neighbours, and her large extended family. Myrtle will be fondly remembered for her kind, gentle, and caring ways, and her irresistible smile.

Myrtle is survived by her children; Helen Jones (Mark) of Calgary, Eileen Richardson (late Raymond) of Nelson, Velma (late Harry) Williston of Bay du Vin, Catherine (David) Williston of Bay du Vin, and David (Patsy) Murdock of Loggieville. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Rhoda Murdock (late Jack) of Bay du Vin. In addition to her children, Myrtle is survived by 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, leaving a wonderful legacy to carry on her memory.

In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was predeceased by her sons Jack and Bill, sisters Nettie, Ruth, and Margaret, and brothers Robert and John. Myrtle was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 27th from 4-8 pm at Maher’s Funeral Home, 35 University Avenue, Miramichi, NB. The funeral was held on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 pm from St. Andrews United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Miramichi, NB. The service was officiated by Reverend Geza Szemok, with a reading by Tammy Murdock, scripture reading by Allison MacKenzie, and remembrances by Samantha and Stephanie Stewart. Active pallbearers were, John Knowles, Mark Kelly, Lucas MacKenzie, Todd Murdock, Haley Williston, and Leigh Williston. Honorary pallbearers were, Blake Johnson, Gordon Kelly, Teddy Kelly, Marcus Murdock, Cecil Preston, and Charlie Preston. Interment to follow at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery (Loggieville) in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to St. Andrews United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
