It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charmaine Rushworth on July 11th, 2022, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. She is survived by her brother Bill Rushworth and his wife Dorita, brother-in-law John Bissett and nieces and nephews Anne Marie (Michel Plourde), Philippe (Nadia Landry) and Jennie Rushworth as well as Andrew (Larissa Trethart), Mathew and Jocelyne Bissett. She will be sorely missed by all including her great and great great nieces and nephews (Christian, Daniel, William, Autumn, Liam, Theo, Isabelle, William, Ellie and Caeden). Besides her parents, Bill and Madeleine Rushworth, she was predeceased by her sister Shirley-Mae Bissett.

Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on May 4th, 1933, Charmaine moved to Toronto in her late teens and had a long career with the Royal Bank of Canada.

A few years into retirement, she relocated to Miramichi, New Brunswick where she enjoyed 17 years living in her home at Retirement Miramichi. There, she spent many years volunteering with the Alzheimer Society and was especially proud of the Rae of Hope Award she received from the New Brunswick Alzheimer Society in recognition of this work. As an active participant in the retirement communities’ activities, Charmaine made many new friends, who will miss her dearly.

Charmaine was an avid traveler and always had a trip on the horizon be it close to home with short trips to Gardiner Point and the rest of the Maritimes or further abroad to the likes of Russia, Scotland and Alaska. Well into her 80’s, she was even off sailing the Caribbean! She will be remembered as a kind, fun loving lady always up for a new adventure.

Charmaine’s family would like to thank all the nurses and staff in the Palliative Care unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital for the very kind, compassionate and professional service she received.

A celebration of life service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 37 King St, Miramichi on August 3, 2022 at 11:00am. For those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Charmaine can be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choosing.
