Chief Warrant Officer Robert Wilfred Blais, a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather passed away on April 19, 2021 in Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 91.

Robert or Bob as he was called by all who knew him was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 18, 1929. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Blanche and John Blais, brother Rene, and two sisters Claire and Rejane, son Philip John Blais, and daughter Linda Marie Hiemstra. Bob is survived by his wife Laura Beatrice (Rogers) Blais, grand children Mark Fry, Michelle Hiemstra, and Jason Blais, and great grand children Ethan Fry, Leland Fry, and Philip Blais.

Bob enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1948 and served loyally for 32 years. Through the years Bob’s character was defined by his determination, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of perfection in all that he did. After being honourably discharged from the service in 1980, Bob and wife Laura settled at their residence in Miramichi NB where he spent the remainder of his days. Although Retired, Bob certainly didn’t slow down; constantly working around the property mowing, snipping, tilling, maintaining equipment with the utmost care and occasionally relaxing by the pool with his family, Bob was rarely idle.

Throughout his life, Bob developed interests in a number of hobbies including: scuba diving, water skiing, boating, astronomy, bird watching, and horticulture. He was also a black and white movie Buff with more than 250 titles in his collection!

Bob and Laura were 4 months away from celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Bob was a loyal man with good morals and strong traditional values and he will certainly be missed. Burial service will take place in Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Miramichi NB, at a later date.
