It is with sadness that the family of Kathleen Richard announce her passing at the Eastside Special Care Home in Loggieville on February 27th 2020 at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Richard of Loggieville and the eldest daughter of the late Joseph & Annie (Murphy) McCarthy of Nowlanville.

Kathleen received her early education in Nowlanville, later at St Mary’s Academy in Newcastle and her R.N from Hotel Dieu Edmundston . Her nursing career began in Stanley N.B at the Red Cross Stanley Hospital, later at the DVA hospital and the Dr. Roberts School in Saint John. She and Joe returned to Miramichi (Loggieville) in 1975 where she was active in the CWL, the Retired Nurses Association and St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church.

Kay had a great faith and dedication to the church throughout her life. She and Joe made 2 trips to Medugorje and her family was in awe of her never- ending supply of holy water. Kay also loved berry picking and took many friends and family with her over the years but no one could ever quite keep up with Kay's enthusiasm. She and Joe spent many hours happily working in their garden when they resided on Wellington Street.
Besides her husband and parent’s, she was predeceased by brother’s, F/O John McCarthy and Lawrence McCarthy, and her step-daughter Pauline Richard. She leaves to mourn her step children: Peter Richard, Patricia (Gerry) Dugay, Philip (Gail) Richard, Michael (Janet) Richard and Pamela (Gary)Bolton and many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Alice McCarthy of Loggieville, Mary(late Douglas) Williamson of Bathurst, and sister in law Martina (late Lawrence) McCarthy of Miramichi as well as her nieces and nephew, Margaret McCarthy of Miramichi, Laura (Liam Floyd) Williamson of Ireland and John(Mary)Williamson of Douglas N.B and their children: Douglas Floyd, and Janey, Annie and Joe Williamson as well as many cousins and dear friends.
The Family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Miramichi Regional Hospital and Eastside Special Care Home for their kindness and care.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 5th from 2-4 and 7-9.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church Loggieville on Friday March 6th at 11am.
Donations to a memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated.
