Simon Glynn passed away at Miramichi Regional Hospital on Dec 26, 2019, after a brief illness. He was born in Chatham NB on April 11, 1935 and was the son of the late Lucy and John Glynn.
Simon is survived by his wife of 58 years Joanne, son Mike (Joanne) of Durham Bridge, NB, grandchildren Jessica Palmer (Cody) of Saint John, NB, Mitchell Glynn of Oromocto, NB, sisters Patricia Devlin (Wayne), Ann Taraniuk (Tony) and Brother Donald Glynn (Yvonne) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Simon greatly enjoyed the longtime friendship of Cheryl MacAllister (Gordie) and nephew John Glynn (Lee). He was predeceased by his brother Clarence Glynn, sisters Rita Kelly and Rose Estey.
As a young man he enjoyed growing up in rural NB and spent much of his time farming and working in the woods. After a period in the Canadian Army he returned home to NB and worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years.
Simon developed a keen eye for horses at an early age and a lifelong fascination particularly for his beloved Belgian’s. When he wasn’t spending time with his horses, he loved talking with other horse owners. Simon also enjoyed his time spent outdoors, whether long drives with Joanne or short drives “In the road” with Donald or a friend.
As per Simon’s request there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held, Monday December 30 2019, at 11:00am at Saint Michael’s Basilica with Fr Fraser officiating.
“May God grant you always...A sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you, a sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you. Faithful friends near you. And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.” -An Irish blessing
