Comments

Genevieve Cook passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at her residence at the age of 87.
Born May 12, 1932 on East Point Road, Loggieville NB to George Ambrose Savoy and Mabel Gertrude (Hay) Savoy. Their third child, Gen was the last surviving member of her family. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and extra special aunt.
She graduated from the Hotel Dièu Hospital, School of Nursing in 1952. Following her graduation, she nursed in New Hampshire, USA, Saint John NB, and Toronto, Ontario, returning home in 1955 to nurse her ailing father. Upon his death, she worked at the Hotel Dièu Hospital for 38 years, until retirement. She was known and admired for her work ethic, kindness, and great sense of humor. Gen had a compassion for those in need, was a good friend and neighbor, loving mother and grandmother, and to the Savoy family, the best aunt ever.
During retirement, she and Ray (the love of her life), enjoyed bus trips, camping and fishing. As a younger woman she was an avid bowler. She loved to cook, bake, and pickle with her grandchildren helping. In later years, bingo was her passion. When Ray’s health failed, her life was taking care of him. And she did so with great tenderness and humor.
Her quick wit would make you smile, but when she threw her head back and laughed, it would warm your soul. She will be missed.
Gen is survived by her son, Peter (Natalie); son in law, James White; Grandchildren: Robyn Cook (Robin), Emma Cook (Kyle), Abby Cook (Dale), Raymond Cook, Lynn White (Colin), and John White (Amanda); Great grandchildren: Russell Losier, Reese Losier, Koby White, Kylie White, Kenzie White, Ava White, and Lexie White; brother in law, Joe Cook (Grace); sister in law, Theresa (Whitty) Connell; sister in law, Lillian Williston (Karl); and several nieces and nephews.
Gen was predeceased by her husband Raymond Cook; daughter, Susan White; parents, George and Mabel Savoy; brothers: Raymond Savoy and Dearborn Savoy; sisters in law: Marie (Savoy) Flynn, and Ernestine Savoy; brother in law, Alf Dwyer and sister in law, Mary Dwyer; brothers in law: Ken Whitty and Bob Connell; and nephew, Stephen Savoy.
Genevieve Cook will be resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00am, at Saint Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Loggieville, with internment in Saint Andrew’s cemetery.
Donations to the Saint Andrew’s Cemetery fund or the memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated.
