Patrick Dowling, 76, of Miramichi, N.B., formerly of Oakville, ON, passed away on May 14, 2019 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.
Born in Hamilton, ON, Pat was the son of the late James and Marie Dowling.
Pat served for 22 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, in various roles and locations. It was while stationed in Chatham that he met the love of his life, Nina. Returning to Canada after service in Germany, Pat and has family eventually settled in Oakville, ON. After retiring from the RCAF, Pat joined the public service, working for the Department of Defence for another 23 years.
Upon retiring, Pat and Nina returned to the Miramichi area. Pat loved fishing, watching Nascar, and war movies.
Pat is survived by his son Jon Dowling (Sandy) of Loggieville, NB; his daughter Jennifer Carter (David) of Welland, ON; two grandchildren, Zach Dowling and Alex Dowling; and his brother Ken Dowling (Sharon Grover) of Hamilton, ON.
Pat was predeceased by his beloved wife Nina Dowling, and his grandson Cole Dowling.
Remembrance celebrations will be held in Chatham later this year, and announcements will be made closer to the date.
