William (Bill) James Kerr Sr., 85, husband of the late Rita (Whalen) Kerr, died peacefully Saturday March 30th, 2019 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born in Montreal Quebec, May 31st, 1933, to the late William & Rita (Connell) Kerr,
Bill dedicated his life to his family, business and community.
He was very proud of Kerr Construction’s contribution to the community having built among others, what is now the NBCC building, Scotia Bank and much of infrastructure in the former town of Chatham.
Bill loved being with family, from spending childhood summers on his grandfather’s farm in Bartibog, to Saturday evenings at home with his father and brothers watching Hockey Night in Canada and later with his own family whenever they had a chance to be together.
What was common to all of these, was his enjoyment of the story telling and listening to everyone’s adventures.
Bill is survived by his four children; Bill (Dawn) of Halifax, NS, Kevin (Joyce) of Wolfville, NS, Alan (Tara) of Rothesay, NB and Kim (Dwayne MacLeod) of Wolfville, NS; nine grandchildren; William, Michael, Ian, Andrew, Jennifer, Samantha, Alex, Meghan and Aidan; and his brother Richard (Phyllis) of Miramichi.
Besides his wife,he was predeceased by his parents, Wife Rita, brother David and two sisters, Mary-Ellen and Dorothy.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Bill’s caregiver, Kay LeGresley and Dr Gerard Losier.
We would also like to express our thanks to the extra-mural staff and the Palliative Care unit at the Miramichi Regional hospital.
The family will be receiving condolences at Maher’s Funeral Home on April 1st, 2019 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Basilica on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 at 11:00 am.
