Cook, Clarence Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Clarence Cook Senior announce his passing on December 24, 2018 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 96.

He was born in Redmondville, New Brunswick on September 30, 1922.

He was the son of the late Bernard Cook and Catherine (Flynn) Cook.

He is survived by two daughters Joyce Driscoll (Lorne) and Lila Barry (Brent) both of Miramichi; three sons, Clarence Jr. (Beverly) of Redmondville, Lawrence (Jo-Ann) of Redmondville, and Percy (Evelyn) of Quispamsis; one brother, Robert, of Hamilton, Ontario; one sister-in-law, Margaret Flynn, of Redmondville; 16 grandchildren and; 31 great-grandchildren.

He was a war veteran serving his country in the Second World War and was wounded in action.

He returned to Redmondville, to court the love of his life, and married Mary in 1947.
Their beautiful partnership lasted 69 years.

Not only was Clarence a hard working man who had an abundance of energy, he was also a man of strong character.

He freely gave of himself to the Lord, family, friends & his community.

Clarence can best be described as a man who gave and received respect.

He was also caring & kind and who always displayed a warm heart to everyone.

He began his post war working career as a pulp truck driver for George Cook followed by 34 years of service at the Saint Margaret’s Radar Base.

Clarence enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, music, playing cards, and spending time in his garden.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (O’Hearn) Cook, and 12 siblings.

Visitation will be from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Maher’s Funeral Home in Chatham.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Saint Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Saint Margaret’s on Friday, December 28 at 11 AM with Father John Fraser officiating.

A reception will follow in the parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Saint Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Clarence would be much appreciated.
