Alice Fenelon, 94, passed away peacefully at Saint John & Saint Stephen Nursing Home, Saint John N.B. on September 11, 2017.
Born in Edmundston, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lottie Lajoie. She was a long time member of St. Michael's Basilica and member of the C.W.L. She worked for Rubenstein's women's clothing, She was manager of Canadian Tire in Chatham, NB, and Greenwood Nova Scotia. After retirement, Alice continued to work for Statistics Canada.
Alice was a hard worker and always put her family first. She enjoyed curling, watching ball games with Bert. As well, she was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, She loved doing crossword puzzles. At home she enjoyed baking, knitting, ceramics, and rug hooking. These things, she dispersed to many of us at different times.
Alice is survived by her daughters; Patricia Furlotte of Saint John, N.B., Sharon McDermott -Desmond (Bob) of Rusagonis, N.B., Raymond Furlotte Jr. of Trail B.C., Robert Furlotte (Sandra) of Kingston P.E.I., son -in-law Brian Lloyd, 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and "adopted" daughter Nancy Martin and her daughters Donna & Karen. Sister: Louise (Ghislain) Morin of Edmunston, N.B., Brothers; Albert (Sandi) Lajoie of Gatineau Que., Patrick Lajoie (Michelin) of Mont Tremblant, Que., and John (Colombo) Lajoie of Edmunston N.B. and many nieces and nephews.
Alice is predeceased by her parents, 1st husband Raymond Furlotte (1960), 2nd husband Bert Fenelon (2005), and her daughter Joanne Lloyd (2015).
Visitation with family and friends was be held at Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi, NB on Friday September 15, 2017 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday September 16, 2017 at 11 am from St Michael's Basilica with Fr Charles Udeh officiating. Pallbearers were Scott Lloyd, Sean McDermott, Patrick McDermott, Kyle Bennett, Andrew Day, and Nicklaus Leggatt. Honorary pallbearers were Albert Lajoie, John Lajoie, Patrick Lajoie, Ghislain Morin, Joe MacKenzie, Jimmy Brown, Jamie Leggatt, Michael Kay, Bob Desmond, and Bob Monteith. Eulogy by Patrick McDermott, Readings by Robin Lloyd or Melanie Lloyd, 2nd reading by Lisa MacKenzie. Intercessions by Kelly McDermott. Hymns were Here I am Lord, The Lord is My Shepherd, Prayer of St Francis, You are Mine, Peace I Leave, City of God. Memorial Cards & Programs by Briana, Barrie, Rory, Emily, and Peyton. Reception was held at Knights of Columbus Hall on King Street.
